?
Mr. Zhang Rongjun, CTO of Beyondsoft, delivered an important discourse on the differences of China and India’s outsourcing industry at the China-India Services Outsourcing Cooperation Forum held in Chengdu last October 20, 2011 The forum is part, and one of the important events of the 12th Western China International Fair (WCIF).
?
The Forum was organized by the Ministry of Commerce of the PRC and Sichuan Provincial People's Government, co-hosted by Chengdu People's Government, and undertaken by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Gartner, and the National Association of Software Services Companies (NASSCOM) in India. ?It aimed to explore the cooperation opportunities between China and India on ?services outsourcing and create a China-India dialogue platform to achieve mutual development.
?
Saumitra Chaudhuri, member of Indian Planning Commission, and Bayyapu Sandeep Kumar, Commercial Consul of Consulate General of India in Guangzhou, also had the opportunity to address the forum . Also sharing the stage were Partha Iyengar, VP of Gartner, N.K Goyal, President of Communications and Manufacturing Association of India (CMAI), Anil Bakht, ?VP of NASSCOM BOD, and Ravi Kethana, ?Business Development Director of Tata Information Technology Company in China, who all made remarkable speeches on the global outsourcing trend, cooperation areas and prospect of China-India services outsourcing, and business expansion in China. All of them had wonderful interaction with the forum as well.
?
On his talk, Mr. Zhang remarked that compared with Indian companies, Chinese enterprises have advantages in technology and other hardware, however, there are gaps in terms of software. He also believes that China and India should cooperate in services outsourcing to complement where the other is lacking. He says India aims at the huge market in China because India's outsourcing market is limited, while it is key for China's services outsourcing to learn India’s experience in globalization to be able to enter the Indian market.
?
Mr. Zhang specifically cited that M&A of Indian outsourcing companies can be taken to indirectly crack the Indian market and that lately more and more companies are using such technique. ?He also noted that when business integration happens, companies will always face challenges such as language barrier, differences in cultural background not to mention differences in work style. Finally, he said that Chinese companies should encourage their employees and managers to learn more about Indian culture and background, and vice versa.
